Care and Engagement

2A. Provide a challenging, supportive environment that champions growth, courage, respect and resilience in students, staff and parents

  • To develop a philosophy to clarify the mission, vision and values of our educational community.
  • Stakeholder engaged:
  • Leadership Team

Following our work in 2023 regarding Learning Dispositions, our Educational Philosophy document took shape.

The final consultation of the educational philosophy with leadership at the Colloquium in April 2024 allowed leaders to connect, understand and contextually envision the philosophy in action within our community. Here is the draft Educational Philosophy document, with the final document to be completed later this year.

Our Educational Philosophy

St Augustine’s College’s educational philosophy is a set of statements that provides a guided framework to clarify and embolden the mission, vision and values of our educational community.

Principles of learning are usually broad and implicit and are rarely highlighted in a school’s policy or procedure. They are the foundation of the culture of a school, and are aligned with the philosophical underpinnings of the teachings of Saint Augustine.

An educational philosophy embodies these principles, and enables a broader opportunity for understanding, connection and application amongst the community.

The St Augustine's College community is diverse and vibrant. As such, an educational philosophy that amplifies the interconnectedness of educational perspectives across all areas is vital to enabling our organisation and community to continue to flourish into the future.
