Learning and Teaching

3B. Make data-informed decisions to deliver engaging learning experiences that provide opportunities for all students to learn, thrive and grow.

  • To use data analytics to drive teaching pedagogical practice to improve individual student growth.
  • Stakeholder engaged:
  • Leadership Team

The College referenced many data sources in 2022 including:

  • HSC RAP (Results Analysis Package) data
  • Professor John DeCourcy Catholic Schools NSW data (177 pages)
  • NAPLAN data
  • Allwell data
  • Internal data

The College is able to analyse data for every subject, every question, and every student, and the implementation of the Student Analytics Dashboard will assist with analysing the data in the future.

Data allows us to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of each subject/course, and this informs changes to content delivery. We are also able to track every student in the College to monitor metrics such as learning engagement, and to assist in awards.

Other initiatives of the College:

  • Faculty coordinators analyse Scout and RAP data
  • Improve staff access to Scout data
  • Use of Allwell data to inform streaming decisions and enrolment decisions (e.g. assist in selecting electives for Years 9/10 and Years 11/12)
  • A special project run by Head of English to develop spelling of metawords for specific subjects.

We are continually evaluating the data to inform and improve practice so as to enhance the challenges that the data exposes.
