In 2022, a wide variety of staff growth and development opportunities were provided to our staff. These included:

Educator Impact

During 2022, 112 teachers engaged in Educator Impact. Educator Impact is a platform for school leaders and teachers to collect 360-degree feedback on their practice to help inform evidence-based goal setting. Teachers could track their progress and record evidence of professional learning by providing feedback. The participants accumulated over 1500 elective professional learning hours.

Additionally, five teaching staff attained their proficiency status. Mentors supported staff through fortnightly sessions and access to mentors.

One on one coaching of middle leaders

Head of HR worked individually with middle leaders to strengthen leadership capability.

Predictive Index

110+ staff have completed PI, including all middle leaders. This process is included one on one coaching sessions with each person, in preparation for team sessions. The outcome is for greater team cohesion, and greater self-awareness of behaviours and development of behaviour flexing where beneficial.

Professional learning in 2022

During 2022, professional learning at St Augustine’s College included NESA-accredited courses in the four priority areas, whole school staff development days and internal/external elective courses.

St Augustine’s College staff completed mandatory professional learning in the following areas of compliance:

  • Identifying and Responding to Children and Young People at Risk (AISNSW Provider)
  • Child Protection Policy documentation
  • Statement of Commitment to Child Safety
  • Staff Code of Conduct
  • Providing First Aid in an Educational and Care Setting and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation

Over 30 one-hour Elective courses were offered to staff in 2022. Some of these Elective courses included:

  • Data Literacy | HSC Results (CSNSW)
  • Your Accreditation | Tracking and Evaluating PD hours.
  • Introduction to Positive Education
  • VIVI 101
  • Catholic Augustinian Spirituality
  • Scaling the Skill of Handwriting
  • The Pathway to Proficient Teacher (Fortnightly sessions)
  • Can You Speak, Boy?

As an Independent Non-Government school, the College developed and delivered professional development (PD) courses solely for our teachers as NESA Accredited PD. The following PD were offered to teaching staff:

  • Digital Excellent Technological Tools in Teaching and Learning
  • Differentiation in the Classroom
  • aCOT Harvard Thinking Routines
  • Providing Feedback

Leaders Colloquium

60+ staff in a position of responsibility across the College attended a 2-day offsite Leadership Colloquium, where key strategic issues were discussed and leaders were engaged in the building of future-focused initiatives. There were opportunities for cross-departmental relationship building and problem-solving.

Staff Day

A day specifically designed for staff in non-promotional positions to identify opportunities and lend staff voice to ideas for improving the College.

Leadership structural adjustments

Implementation of new senior roles for Dean of Teaching and Learning, and Dean of Students, as part of the succession planning strategy. Introduced additional leadership positions in languages and learning enrichment in preparation for 2023. Change of leadership titles across the College to better align with the responsibilities of roles.
