Jonathan Harvey, Assistant Principal - Sport and Co-curricular, reflected on the year in his final LinkedIn post for 2024:

Reflecting on 2024, I am immensely proud of our school, St Augustine's College. Our dedicated staff, talented students, supportive parents, and vibrant community truly embody our values as an independent Catholic school on the Northern Beaches of Sydney.

We instil the importance of humility in our students (sometimes a challenging task with adolescent boys!). And while we celebrate victories, we emphasise that determination, teamwork, and resilience are far more important than winning.

We may not have the shiny trappings of larger schools, but we invest in what truly matters: exceptional coaching, great educators, and staff dedicated to helping our students excel.

Our Athletic Development department, lead by Ross Pawson, personalises programs, rehabilitation, and strength training to meet each student’s needs. Our ‘Saints Support’ project provides education regarding athlete wellbeing to build parent engagement and assist them to support their son’s journey through high school.

This commitment to player care and development is delivering results, and at this years Summer and Winter Sports awards assembly we celebrated recent student achievements:

  • A Golf scholarship at William Woods University
  • Rowing scholarships at Yale, Penn State, Drexel, and Cal Berkeley
  • A Top 30 contract with the NRL
  • A full NRL season and debut for Tonga
  • A spot in Manly’s First Grade Cricket team
  • And many others achieving State and National representation.

I am honoured to work in a place where students can reach their full potential, without needing to travel beyond the support of their local northern beaches community.

Thank you to everyone who played a part.

2024 over and out!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.
