- Staff
Earlier this year the College unveiled a mural created by Kentaro Yoshida during his artist-in-residency. Kentaro also assisted Year 9 Visual Arts students painting their own mini murals, with an artist’s talk and painting tips. The mural was created to represent aspects of our Augustinian culture and wellbeing program. Augustine is represented as an ancient tree, watering plants in the six different colours of College Houses. The tree is full of wisdom and home to creatures that represent the values of each House:
- Crane / Faith is a butterfly that’s emerged from its cocoon
- Goold / Community symbolised by a hive of busy bees
- Heavey / Love is s pair of loved-up kookaburras
- Hutchison / Service is represented by a loyal dog
- Murray / Wisdom is represented by the all-seeing owl
- Reville / Truth is portrayed by a vocal cockatoo
Look closer and you may find the AWE (Augustinian Wellbeing in Education) symbol and a few jokes:
- our adopted mascot the bin chicken
- the crozier that Augustine holds looks like a paper clip
- balls stuck high in the tree branches
