In 2023 the College offered free weekly English lessons for our international parents. It helped the guardian parents to develop a deep understanding of Australian culture and form a sense of belonging to the College community.
On 29 August the College received the following letter of appreciation:
As the group of international student parents at St Augustine's College, we want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for the English classes you recently organized for us. The impact of these classes has been truly remarkable, and we are eager to convey our appreciation.
Your initiative in preparing and delivering a series of English classes targeting us - a group of Chinese speaking parents of our students has been invaluable. The classes have not only been informative but also engaging and enjoyable. The thoughtful incorporation of Australian cuisine and practical English for travel scenarios, complete with interactive food tasting sessions and scenario simulations, has made the learning experience not only effective but also memorable. Your efforts have enabled us to not only improve our English language skills but also gain insights into the vibrant food culture of Australia. The combination of language learning and cultural exploration has truly enriched our experience as parents of international students at St Augustine's College.
We also want to extend our gratitude to Vivian and Penny, for their support in this endeavor. The involvement and assistance have been instrumental in ensuring the success of these classes. They have helped create a nurturing and inclusive environment that encourages learning and cultural exchange.
All of your dedication to enhancing the connection between the school and parents of international students is commendable. These English classes have not only improved our language skills but have also fostered a sense of community and belonging within the St Augustine's College family.
Once again, we express our heartfelt thanks for your exceptional efforts and commitment to fostering a dynamic and inclusive learning environment. We look forward to continued collaborations that benefit both our students and our community as a whole.
Warmest regards,
International Student Parents
