6F. Strengthen College approaches to risk management and compliance.

  • To effectively implement the NSW Child Safe Standards and to ensure the practical application of the new Child Safeguarding strategies, policies, procedures and work systems.
  • Stakeholder engaged:
  • Leadership Team

Child Safe organisations create cultures, adopt strategies and act to prevent harm to children. Creating and maintaining a child safe organisation is an ongoing process – it requires strong leadership and a shared responsibility across the organisation to keeping children safe.

The College continues to prioritise the implementation of the NSW Child Safe Standards to ensure the development of a strong organisational culture that keeps our students safe.

The College has reviewed and implemented the CompliSpace Child Safeguarding module and has engaged key College staff in professional learning specifically around the implementation of the Standards.

The College has developed key policies and procedures to ensure full compliance. The new Child Safeguarding policies are now available on the College website.
Being a child safe organisation, we commit to:

  • making a public commitment to child safety
  • ensuring children have a voice
  • having a child safe policy
  • implementing a Code of Conduct that explains behavioural expectations of all staff
  • ensuring staff working with children have a Working with Children Check when required, and verifying those Checks
  • having a child focused complaint handling policy and processes
  • providing new staff with an induction that explains the organisation’s values and expectations regarding child safety
