Care and Engagement
2B. Foster development of respectful, confident and balanced individuals who feel known, safe and loved.
- To foster an environment within students where the focus is being an upstander not a bystander so that inappropriate and unsafe acts are not tolerated by students.
- Stakeholder engaged:
- Students
All students in Years 5 to 9 participated in AWE sessions led by their tutors that explored the bystander effect and the Four D's of upstander behaviour, strategising responses to real-life scenarios. The AWE program also stepped students through Bullying vs Banter, THINK Decisions, and the Breaking the Man Code and Connection Code workshops, as well as guest speakers who reinforced these messages.

The Primary School Digital Citizenship strand reinforced the same message — being Internet Strong, brave and kind online.
Respectful Relationships AWE sessions in Term 3 were paired with the Safe Schools Survey and Student Wellbeing Survey, with feedback shared with Heads of Year to inform a fresh review of the College Bullying Policy. Year-level meetings reinforced our commitment to the Child Safe Standards and the avenues available to students for seeking help.
