The 2025 Sports Badge Dinners this year centred on the College value of Humility, with coaches from all sports and Principal Byrne, reflecting on humility in both victory and defeat, on and off the field. As is now tradition, the parents joined their sons on stage to present their Firsts badges to their sons as a symbolic affirmation of commitment, gratitude and excellence. In addition, the College hosted many social, fundraising events for Basketball, Rugby, Rowing and Football which brought families from different Year groups together to support and enjoy being part of the St Augustine’s community.
The College has continued to invest in comprehensive coach induction to ensure that the standards and expectations of our classrooms extend to the spaces beyond them. Players who fail to meet expectations of sportsmanship are held accountable, regardless of ability or status. Mentoring opportunities for senior students to coach Primary and Junior boys in Rugby, Touch Football, Water Polo and Football have proven highly successful, fostering leadership, responsibility and service.
A parent education session, “How to be a Sideline Champion”, was an opportunity for parents (and sons) to listen to an expert in the field of Mental Skills in Sport (Dan Haesler from Play Fearless) about their son’s sporting journey and the best way to support them through it.
