4D. Formalise and strengthen the presence and engagement of the Alumni and Augustinian partners as witnesses to faith, mentors, guides, and conduits to the world for current students.
- To drive progress in formalising the SAOBA governance framework, ensuring a robust and effective structure.
- Stakeholder engaged:
- Alumni
During 2025 and 2026, the alumni focus group met regularly to plan and coordinate the 70th Anniversary celebrations, while also exploring the formalisation of the SAOBA governance structure.
Alumni class hubs, made up of social coordinators representing each year group, were identified and recruited to strengthen communication, encourage connection, and support the organisation of class reunions.
Annual alumni events continued successfully, including the Nostalgia Lunch, private reunions in Queensland, and class reunions in Sydney, all attracting strong attendance and fostering meaningful reconnections.
Younger alumni were actively engaged through initiatives such as the Career Expo, Beyond the Gates program, sporting activities and events, tutoring opportunities, and smaller private gatherings.
SAOBA’s Facebook presence, quarterly Alumni E-News, and WeChat communications also continued to grow, achieving positive engagement across all social media platforms.
A major highlight of the year was the 70th Anniversary Dinner, attended by alumni from the Class of 1962 through to the Class of 2024. Special moments included the attendance of three generations of the Rochford family, as well as two families represented by four brothers each.
SAOBA and the Foundation currently maintain alumni connections through class hubs, social media, E-News communications, events, and reunion programs. While alumni continue to value strong engagement and connection, there remains a preference for informal networks rather than more formal governance structures.
